Day 1 of 30: Barbie Gets Whooped!

Sometimes you just have to call it like it is...and this workout, Day 1 of 30, was a true ass-kicker! I wasn't too excited this morning about hitting the gym to work out my legs, but I had decided to include a gym-day to my new routine to better sculpt my legs. As much as I love Debbie and Tony, I'm looking to build my hamstrings and glutes a bit more. I also just wanted to try something different, even if up until this morning, I had been a little skeptical of the effectiveness of my planned leg workout. What could be better than an hour with Tony, I thought, and what could be less exciting than being surrounded by a room-full of heavy equipment?

Well, boys and girls, after my first set of weighted squats on the Smith Machine, followed by walking lunges, I was begging for mercy. Who would have thought that six little exercises could kick my butt so badly? Admittedly, I found myself a little lonely in the weight-room without Tony's corny jokes and Debbie's sweet little voice. But, all in all, it was a great workout.

Once I was done with my leg workout forty minutes later, I took the elevator back home and popped in Abs Core Plus into my dvd player. Oh, Tony, Mark, and Tracy--hiya, kids! I had a hard time getting through the 19-minute abs workout, but I pushed through.

When it was over, I knew I didn't have it in me, as originally planned, to do 20 minutes of cardio. I was pooped...and hungry!

My eating has been right on target. Day 1 is officially over. Tomorrow, I rest. I'm looking forward to working out with Debbie's Slim Series on Wednesday.

I am feeling well-rested and excited to be taking my fitness to yet another level. The challenge for me over the next 30 days will be to not work out more than the scheduled 4 days. I'm curious to see how my body will respond to this new workout that includes a gym day, two days of Slim Series, and an outdoor bike-ride.

I love new beginnings! Let's keep bringing it!
