Rest, Barbie, Rest...Wipe Out!

Ain't it funny, last night I blogged from bed saying how I had my mojo back, and today, I woke up feeling like I had been run over by a truck. That I was in bed comatosed (I'm even too tired to check the spelling on that word!) by 6pm should have been a sign that Barbie needed rest.

Upon awakening, I made an executive decision (yea, I have watched 2 or 3 episodes of the Apprentice) and decided to take the day off. Was it laziness? Not at all. It's actually difficult for me to stop and rest sometimes. Mentally, my mojo is there. I wanted to work out. But, the smarter side of me knew that if I rested today, I would be able to recharge my batteries for the days to come.

I almost never miss a workout unless I'm genuinely sick or...overtrained. This time, I made the decision to rest so as not to find myself in trouble later. What they say is true: it's better to be 10% undertrained than 1% overtrained. I don't think I'm overtraining, I'm just beat! So, I listened to my body and spent my day taking care of bills, buying travel tickets, responding to emails, and tying up loose ends. Administratively, I accomplished a lot.

It's 9pm and I'm ready for bed. Please, pretty please, I hope I wake up full of energy tomorrow. Sleep tight, kids, my day is done!

Bring it!

Smart woman. I am learning this same lesson, I am just pushing too hard sometimes and can't keep my head in the game. For me, it's more of staying focused at my work... I workout without thinking about it now. But during the day, I am just not with it. It's rest and I know it.

Actually, Scott, i didn't say it, but for me, it's also the same issue. I can DO the workouts, but when I'm physically tired, my creativity and productivity suffer. I am writing a paper, and if I'm physically beat, I can't produce. It's why I took the day off, so I could be clear for my writing session this weekend. Thanks for the comment!
