Day 4 of 16: I Think I Get It.

Dear Boys and Girls,

I think I get it. Exercising and eating clean are pretty much the easy parts. It's life that's hard and that gets in the way! I mean, if all we had to do was eat clean and exercise, without any regard to getting life stuff done, we'd all be super fit.

I don't know if that helps me or you any, but it came to me as an epiphany. Life is inherently full of stufffff we need to take care of.

Day 3 of 16 was my sacred rest day. As soon as I finished blogging yesterday, my computer went bezerk and shut off. After the previous anxiety-ridden day, I decided to take this computer failure in stride. I just went about my day, waited for the MAC store to open, and took care of the problem.

Honestly, I was glad that I didn't have to set two plus hours aside for my workout.

I took the day with ease, focused on my meals, drank my water, and spent the day unpacking with Jason. At four o'clock, my "let me just shut my eyes for a second" nap, turned into a four-hour sleep fest that I had to be woken out of.

I woke up starving! In the past, I would have grabbed a bowl of cereal and called it a day. But not this time. As soon as I woke up, I grabbed for the fish, threw it on the pan with a bit of olive oil spray and salt-free spices, boiled some water to blanch my califlower, and feasted on that!

Ahh, day 3 of 16 was easy.

Today, day 4 of 16, I'm feeling kind of stressed because of a project that stresses me out and is overdue. I have to go drop off Jason in about five minutes, which always makes me sad. (On that front, too, I'm anxiously awaiting the day that we can live in the same city permanently. I can feel it, that day is right around the corner.) On the way back from the airport, I'm hitting cardio for an hour.

On my way to airport, it'll be time for my snack: two brownrice cakes and a scoop of chocolate whey protein powder with water. I confess, I snuck a 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter on my cakes. Yes, my body is craving the sweet stuff, just a little.

Is this all worth it? Absolutely! I can already see the changes in my body and I feel strong. I like having order, purpose, routine.

There's much on my to do list today (airport, boxes, 2 workouts, a book proposal that was due, um, days ago, dog loving, etc). But, I'm going to remain in the moment and just get it done.

Bring it, day 4, I'm ready for the challenges that you have in store for me.

I know what you mean about life getting in the way; I would love to work part-time to have more time for meals and workouts.

I am very excited and inspired by your past and ongoing work to reach this milestone!

If there was a finish line, we'd all be there cheering you on; just know I am doing so online!

This is why so many people look at celebrities and don't understand why all of them have amazing bodies, but normal people don't. It's because it's their job to have that. But for everyone else, it's not our job, it's just something we have to focus on on the side, and it's tough a lot of the time.
