Day 7 of 16: And the Ball Will Sometimes Drop.

Dear Boys and Girls,

It's 10pm, just got done with cardio. I've been tired all day.

Last nite's cardio session left me a little too awake. Still, I forced myself to go to bed before 11pm so I could wake up early. I made the mistake of checking my email from my iphone in bed. Someone had posted something on my YouTube channel how I had neglected to respond to their email for weeks (it had admittedly been ten days). That was evidence, according to this person, of my being motivated by "easy sales" and that I didn't respond because her email required work.

For real?

That post hurt and angered me to the core. I receive over 30 emails a day. It really is a wonderful thing, but, yea, sometimes overwhelming. Most people, and this is not a bad thing, write me long emails. We all want to be heard, we all have a story to tell. I normally don't wait ten days to respond to emails, but given the fact that I had to meet my boyfriend in LA, help him pack, drive his stuff in a huge truck with his jeep tagging along, sleep in hotels for 2 nights, get in my two workouts a day, try to eat as clean as possible, and once here, pack, unpack, move to storage, throw stuff out, reorganize, and get right back to work, SOMETHING HAD TO GIVE.

You see, I've known this, and I'm learning it more and more: You cannot do it all. Something, something has to give.

Anyway, my anger, which is MY OWN problem, because only I am responsible for how I react, kept me awake til almost 1 am. Great, with less than 6 hours of sleep, I got to drag myself through the whole day. I was one tired girl with little energy to bring it today.

I had to be up early for an appointment, so I didn't have the luxury of sleeping in.

I tried to go through my normal work day and really did attempt to go through all my emails so I wouldn't get any more angry, disappointed posts. But guess what? Being stuck to the computer, meant that there were other things that I needed to be doing that couldn't get done.

And so, day 7, I decided that I can only do what I can. I'm here to help others and I sincerely do it from the heart. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have learned to put myself first. Only in doing so, can I be of service and help to others.

Unanswered emails? They'll have to wait. I needed to turn in a proposal, write a letter of recommendation, hold a coaching meeting, take care of a sick dog (what did Johann eat this time?) and get my 2 workout sessions in.

Isn't this the running theme lately, that life ain't easy? It's not.

I rewatched my Top Coach Video today and realized that my life is just as busy as I was before my transformation, minus the pain and drama. But what has changed is that I'm taking care of myself first, no matter what happens.

So, guys, if you have sent me an email and I haven't answered it, please email me again. I may have mistakenly erased it or maybe I just haven't gottten to it. In case there was ever any doubt, I'm NOT a superwoman who can do it all seamlessly.

With that, I'll sign off. Only 8 more days to go. We're getting closer....and I'm getting leaner, stronger.

Wow, what a self-centered person. "Barbie, why haven't you emailed me back?! Don't you know I should be the most important thing in your life?!" Give me a f*cking break.

Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad for putting yourself first. If everyone learned to do that (and not makes others feel bad for doing so as well) then I think things would run smoother because people wouldn't be trying to pull themselves in 10 different directions at once all the time. You're a great coach, and I'm sure it is rare that it takes you that long to get back with someone. But when you have a bunch of major stuff going on in your life, as you do right now, like you said something's gotta give. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to help you realize not all of us feel that you're being selfish or lazy or whatever that girl was getting at.

Keep bringing it, Barbie. :)

P.S. I got my Brazil Butt Lift and I'm so excited about it! Can hardly wait to start the program, but I am waiting until I am able to buy the groceries I need to go with the diet plan. I want to follow it because all the food looks so good! Can't wait to see the work this does on my lower body.

aww, it makes me sad that someone thinks that about you! I'm so amazed at how commited you are to responding to everyone - even just facebook comments. I think you're incredible. Believe me, I know the amount of effort it takes to get back to everyone and I'm completely stunned that you manage to do that as well as ALL the other things you've got going on. Just realize that anyone who says something like that about you just doesn't know you and doesn't see the extreme amount of commitment you've put into helping other people - when really, you don't have to be concerned about anyone but yourself. So, go you!

Hey Barbie, I run a service related organization and people expect a lot of communication whether or not it is needed. My #1 rule to my employees is "communication, communication, communication!".

Right, Brad,I hear you.. but I'm a one person organization, so to speak, with a demanding full time job, 1500 coachees, and I make myself available thru my blog, facebook, message boards, you tube, in addition to email. I try my best to answer all emails in a timely manner. What I didn't appreciate was being "defaced" publicly and accused of going after easy sales. Like seriously, I have about an hour, if that, in my day where I can just chill.

And thanks, girls. :) I've received a lot of emails of support in response to this post. I refuse to run myself ragged and really do acccept that I can't please everyone.

Once in a while I get emails from people telling me they need a lot of one on one support and for me to check up on them. When I first started coaching, that was possible. Now I tell folks, I'm unable to reach out to you individually to check in. Instead, I send check-ins to the group. But please reach out to me individually. I will respond. Also, if if feel I can't give the person what they need, I am more than happy to recommend another coach who will be a better fit. I do that all the time as a matter of fact.
