I'm In Love with a Boy Named Shaun T.

Ever since I finished my hybrid round of P90X/Slim in 6 on August 24th, I have not been feeling the fire after my workouts. I have been showing up and bringing it despite a lack of motivation. I've said it before and since I love to repeat myself, I'll say it again: my daily level of motivation has nothing to do with whether I press play or eat clean. I simply do it because I am committed to my fitness and health, and well, because I want to have a rockin' body.

That brings us to the workout that may have broken Barbie's funk. Last week I decided to order Shaun T's latest series: Rockin' Body. I like Shaun's Hip Hop Abs, but I've never personally thought it was as great a workout as Debbie or Tony. In the past, I've usually popped in Hip Hop Abs when I wanted to get my dance fix or when I wanted to burn a few extra calories.

I don't know what it was about Rockin' Body that made me want to order it, but something pulled me to it and I'm glad I bought it!

Tonight I did a strength workout called "Rock it Out" (45 minutes), one of the six workouts in the series, which according to the backcover is supposed to give you a rocking "upper body, lower body, and abs workout." Since I was supposed to Upper Body Plus (P90X Plus), I thought I'd do Rock it Out first, to get me warmed up, before moving to the X Plus. Well, boys and girls, Shaun T delivered as promised! I wound up putting Upper Body Plus on the shelf for tonight.

"Rock it Out" provided true resistance training combined with Cardio. My heart rate, which started out in the 80's was up there for much of the workout. I even had to switch from 5 lb to 3 lb weights and, um, I had to stop a few times to catch my breath.

My favorite part? When we got to workout to "Eye of the Tiger," the long remix version. It was awesome!

Okay, so, I'm not 100% sure I'm out of my funk. I sure hope I am. To be honest, it doesn't really matter. I will eventually fall out of it and find my groove once again. But, today, I'm sure glad Shaun was around to help me ROCK IT OUT!!

Bring it!
