Meet Alison, Another BeachBody Success Story

Dear Boys and Girls,

It is my intention to overwhelm you with success stories!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ali while in San Francisco last December. She was surprised that I drank wine and insisted on dessert! Perfection not necessary to achieve amazing results! We're both proof!

Read on!

Barbie, PhD

****

My Personal Bio:

Hi, I'm Alison!

I'm a mother of 2 young kids living in Half Moon Bay, California. I'm originally from Scotland but have been living here for about 14 years. I work as a Software Release Engineer during the week but my favorite thing is to be outdoors enjoying life! I love to ski (telemark ski), rock-climb, mountain bike, scuba dive, but also just walk on the beach with the kids. Take them out for walks and generally live an active life!

My Transformation Story:

After having my 2 kids (aged 2 and 4) I just didn't have time to workout at all and couldn't find the time or enthusiasm to eat healthily. My husband works swing shift (2pm-10.30pm) so the only way I could get out during the week and exercise would be to get a babysitter which was a pain. I did get one each week in the summer to go mountain biking, but felt so out of shape that I really hated it when I couldn't keep up with my friends any more. I was on the verge of just giving up to the fact that I was old and my fit days were over! Same went for skiing and other activities! I was really quite depressed as for me being active was always something I loved! Then I saw an advertisement for Slim in Six: a 6 week exercise and nutrition program which i could do at home WITHOUT having to get a babysitter! I decided to order it and follow it to the word. I was excited to find the Team Beachbody website with menu plans and the forums. I joined one of the forums (The Slim Spot) where other people were also doing Slim in Six and it was amazing! It was a hard six weeks, but since others were doing the same thing we all kept each other going! I eventually lost 11lb but also went from a size 10 to a size 4! The inches just fell off! Everyone was throwing away clothes and buying new smaller ones. It was quite a thrill!

I went on to do slim series followed by P90x, which is a 3-month weight training program which I love. I did 2 rounds of p90x, and am almost done with a round of Chalean Extreme. I am now a size 1 or 2, but am STRONG! I can do at least 45 pushups and am probably in my best shape ever! I can now enjoy mountain-biking again. I can ski all day without even getting tired. I can lift heavy furniture and open jars of food (ha ha!). I really used to be such a wimp. And best of all I just feel great! I am much more confident and now probably have the best body I've ever had, which is pretty amazing at 43 yo! I've totally changed the way I eat. I don't diet and starve myself but make healthy choices. I actually eat really healthily during the week, then splurge a bit at the weekend, but seem to now stay roughly the same weight. All the nutritional information I have learned here has also changed the way I feed my kids, which is another great plus!

I am so thankful I found Beachbody and all these great products :)

CharlieMac: A P90X Success Story

Dear Boys and Girls,

The other day I showed someone I had just met my before and after pics. He was skeptical, he didn't believe the before pictures were really of me. He even pointed out that my skin seemed darker in the first picture. Well, it was summer! Luckily, I had plenty of out of shape pictures on my computer to put his doubt to rest. Although I have nothing to prove, I wanted to share what BeachBody programs can do if, of course, you're willing to do your part.

Real people. Real results!

So, I'd like to introduce a few stories of people I coach, many of whom have decided to pass it forward by becoming coaches themselves.

Meet Charlie.

MY STORY

A little about me:

I am 29, married with two beautiful kids. I have the typical story I guess. I was semi-athletic through high school and college. I was never super fit, but never really obese. I got out of college, got a full time job and didn't make enough time for my health and fitness. The crossroads came during my wife’s pregnancy of my second child. Anything goes when it comes to diet during a pregnancy and I went along for the ride. After the baby came, I approached the dreaded 200 pound mark. That's when I knew something had to be done.

Of course I had watched the P90x infomercial a thousand times and I knew that it was something that would allow me to save time by working out at home, motivate me to actually work out, and produce results. After looking around and reading the BB message boards I decided to get Power 90 first and work my way up to the X. I think I got Power 90 around Nov. 07. The plan was to work out with my wife and we would get fit together. Having an infant around changed that plan. I didn't really commit myself to finding the time. Fast forward to the beginning of this year when I decided to start Power 90 again. I did the 1-2 disc for about 15 days and then switched to 3-4 for about 30 days. I felt at that point I was ready for the X.

I am currently using P90x and I love this program! The variety of exercises and the muscle confusion always have you wanting to come back for more. I knew this program meant business after the very first workout. After I got to Day 30 I was feeling great results. I could kind of see physical results (my wife said she could see big results) but I just felt better and stronger. I think that’s one of the big keys in the beginning. Looking great will come in time, but Beachbody’s programs make feeling great almost instantaneous

My transformation:

I think my Beachbody transformation has been on two levels. First, I transformed my body from a soft gooey mess filled with junk to a healthy, calorie burning machine. I’m not tired when I wake up anymore and I have energy to burn for days. I commute about an hour each way to work and I use to be so tired at the end of the day that I couldn’t even play with my kids. Beachbody and P90x have given me the tools necessary to make the change!

My second transformation has been from a total skeptic of work at home fitness programs to someone who so truly believes in these programs that I have signed on to be a Beachbody Coach. I would have never believed that I could achieve such great results working out at my house. I really wish I had some of those gym membership fees back! Being a Coach has given me a new level of accountability. You can’t fail when other people are counting on you. That’s what is so great about being on a team! You are never alone in your journey. Good days or bad I will be there for you to keep you accountable and offer guidance.

Dear Boys and Girls,

Infomercial Update and Why I love BeachBody

Dear Boys and Girls,

Here's an update from BeachBody CEO Carl regarding the coaching infomercial that hit the airwaves last Friday.

Carl and the company's willingness to see things for what they are & to share that knowledge, as well as their steadfast determination to do what it takes to achieve the set goals are what make BeachBody such an exceptional company.

I really mean it when I say that I have no doubt that the infomercial and BeachBody will take the world by storm.

"Nothing happens but first a dream..." isn't that how the saying goes?

The dream has begun, kids! It's just a matter of time!

Bring it!

Barbie, PhD

***

Dear Coach,

I have been working on the infomercial to promote the Beachbody® coaching business for almost two years.

I studied many of the top business opportunity infomercials for strategies and clues about how to communicate the message and generate response. I invested millions of dollars and thousands of hours of management and staff building the systems to support bringing Coaches in through the Beachbody door and assigning them to Coaches in the Beachbody Coach Network.

I wrote, produced, and directed the show in-house to maximize efficiency and control. I refined the production three times to narrow the focus, improve the compelling nature of the offer, and I even swapped out the hosts to put me in front of the camera to show I was so confident in the power of this opportunity that I wanted to tell the story personally.

This weekend came the first test: two years in the making, and almost seven months late in delivery, with high (but always realistic) hopes for a home run. And as we got the results throughout the weekend, it became clear that I have more work to do. This show is going to require the same effort as every other infomercial we have produced, including P90X®. It's going to take testing, tweaking, and time.

While this infomercial did not come out of the gates with home run numbers, the progress we made as a company and network to get prepared for this infomercial moved us so far forward, gave us so many new tools to work with, and opened up so many new doors, that to look at it in any way other than as a giant next step would be to actually consider failure an option. And it is not an option. This was just another move toward the greatest success and revolution in fitness and health history.

When I get on conference calls and ask people to forge ahead, to marshal their enthusiasm and promote the value of this proposition regardless of how many times they hear "No," I don't mean it for them and not for me. I mean it for us all—persistence pays off for everyone.

The concept of people supporting each other to get healthy and fit and reaping the financial rewards for doing so is a concept that will not be limited by any rejection—not even a multi-million dollar national TV test that is soft in initial response.

Success is the only option. And we have only just begun.

Revisions to the infomercial include featuring more Coaches, more success, 5- and 2-minute spots, as well as 60- and 30-second spots, short form, radio programming, and print ads. The opportunities to refine the message and achieve the results that will build the business are limitless, and the core business from which we are working has the resources to allow me to keep pushing, to keep trying, and to keep forging ahead. Success is the only option I will accept.

Watching the results this weekend forced me to exercise one of my most valuable characteristics: the ability to see reality, yet continue to find hope and the passion to persevere. I happened to read through a folder of memories my sister recently found at the bottom of a box in storage. In it was a letter from my Dad who was commending me for keeping a positive attitude in 9th grade, even though both the basketball and baseball teams I played on went completely winless, 0-17.

I watched my daughter experiment for hours with a tumbling mat we have in the basement. If she can stay at it, enjoying each failure and each lesson on her way to improvement, so can I. I watched my 8-month-old son pull himself up to stand, fall, and get right back up, more determined than before to find his legs. Clearly he was not willing to be deterred by anything on his way to success.

I watched as my Eagles fought from the bottom of the NFC East all the way to the NFC championship game, go down a gut-wrenching 24–6 at the half, then battle back to take the lead and come within a few plays of winning. Never once did they quit, even when everyone else had quit on them. They'll start next season with the same determination and drive.

How you respond to challenge is what defines life. To think that success requires anything less than fierce perseverance is to think there is a "comfort zone" where there is no resistance and no failure. There is no achievement inside the comfort zone, and I would suggest there is also little comfort. But when you do persevere, when you look back and see what you overcame to succeed, the success is that much sweeter.

Every product we sell at Beachbody is about achieving something great. This infomercial test is another example of that. And it is just the first test. We are reshaping the health and fitness industry, an industry that needs to empower more people to seize accountability for their own wellness. And we are recruiting people to help us promote that message and paying them handsomely.

The Beachbody Revolution truly has begun, and it's not just about the infomercial. This revolution is being led by you and nearly 16,000 other Coaches who share this message of real results and financial opportunity every day.

Of course, my part in that revolution is not just about this infomercial; it actually starts with walking the talk. I have exercised 11 days this year in my quest to reach 240 "red Xs" in WOWY® for 2009.

And now we have launched a direct marketing test to learn how we can spread the word that people helping people get healthy and fit is a revolutionary concept that can reward your health and prosperity. And as of this first of many tests, the drive will continue.

This revolution will succeed. SUCCESS is the only option. And our pursuit of national promotion and increased recruiting and awareness throughout the network will not waver.

Watch the BeachBody Revolution Infomercial!

Dear Boys and Girls,

You've really gotta watch the Coaching Business Opportunity informercial that will air for the first time tomorrow, Friday, January 16th.

If you're familiar with the BeachBody Community Forums, then you know these are real people, achieving real results, and making a real income through coaching.

I will be having a Coaching Opportunity Info Session on Saturday, January 17th @ 7pm CT.

Please send me an email if you'd like to attend my online conference call:

I know I sound like a parrot, but TRULY, the time to start coaching is now. As the folks in the infomercial say, you don't have to be a fitness expert or model to coach.

Wow. Bring it!

Hey, Boys and Girls!

In approximately six days, BeachBody will air its first coaching infomercial. I've said it here before, but, really and truly, if you've been thinking about becoming a coach, the time to do it is Now!

The two top informercials on the air right now are both related to multi-level-marketing companies/business opportunities. This is promising news for BeachBody coaches.

I will be back in the States on December 18th. If you'd like to chat with me about how I can help you get started with coaching, please shoot me an email. I will be glad to discuss the ins and outs of coaching with you on the phone.

Truly, the time is now!

BeachBody Success Story: Sometimes It's About Saving Your Own Life

Team Beachbody saved my life!

When I started my journey I had severe blood pressure problems and was told by my doctor that if I didn't lose about 50 pounds I ran the risk of having an aneurysm. I had severe migraine headaches that would disable me for days on end. Needless to say a friend told me about Slim In 6 and then I happened to see an infomercial. I ordered immediately. I figured "Hey if she is doing this why not? I have to do something so I might as well start here." I was uncomfortable going to a gym as I didn't want people staring at the "fat girl" so to speak. I started the program as soon as it came in the mail, which didn't take long. It took some getting used to when you are used to not doing nothing but sitting on your butt on the couch. The eating was the hard part and still is to be honest. I remember having McDonald's withdrawals. I was strict with myself though and before I knew it I couldn't stand the smell of it just driving by. I was so impressed with the mind and body changes that I was experiencing and the improved quality of life in such a short time that I soon signed up as a coach. I knew how this was changing my life and I wanted to help others change there's.

When I started this journey on August 11th I was 210lbs, very sedentary when it came to my activity level, and taking 3 blood pressure pills a day that were doing nothing for the problem. I signed up as a coach on September 11th and completed SI6 on September 22nd. I lost a total of 18 pounds and 12 inches in just 6 weeks! I then started Turbo Jam and have lost another 15 pounds. But the best part is….after doing this for three months my doctor has taking me off all medication. I went from severely high blood pressure and not knowing if I would see my three year old son grow up to normal if not below. My doctor was in shock, as I am still!

I recollect on what I was then and its so hard to imagine. To know that in three months time everything has changed is a miracle to me. I went from not being able to wrestle on the floor with my little man to him telling Momma to leave him alone! I have so much energy and a passion to live life now that I want to share that with others and improve their quality of life also.

I am so excited that I cant put words to what I am feeling. It was a hard road and I still have problems with eating clean every day. I will be the first one to say that it's not easy. With Team Beachbody you literally change your body, change your health, and change your life. If you still stick with it your dreams will come true. And because of my own determination to see my little man grow up I can finally say I am in ONEDERLAND! The feeling is indescribable! I cant wait to see where this journey continue to takes me….and you!

Best Wishes,

Courtney M.

Meet Coach Paula, Another Slim in 6 & Slim Series Success Story!

In response to Barbie's Question, "Why do you want to coach?," Paula wrote:

I am sure my story is like many others. Up until the magical age of 29 I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted. All of a sudden, the weight packed on little by little, an extra 10 lbs that I did not want. With diabetes extremely prevalent in my family, I knew this was a gentle warning, and if I did not heed the message it would become a not so gentle shove.

So, I started looking at all my fitness DVD’s I had bought over the years and came across my Slim and 6 DVD’s. I had never actually finished a rotation. I realized part of the problem was because I was not doing both aspects of the Beach Body prescription: healthy eating + exercise = results. So, I started slumming on the boards and came across coach Barbie’s thread. After making Barbie my coach and starting to chat on the boards I realized, for me, this was the perfect community.

I have always been kind of shy and unsure of myself when it came to fitness as I am quite the klutz. But with the friends I met on the boards and the help of my fantastic coach I was able to lose the 10 lbs and more importantly gain some confidence. Granted I still have my moments of uncertainty but they are few and far between now. I truly believe without the support of my husband, coach and the community that I would not be doing as well as I am this is what inspired me to become a coach. Knowing that there are many people out there just like me, those who aspire to be in good physical shape but do not have the confidence in themselves to do it without help. As an independent beach body coach I hope to help those people as my coach, and the beach body community has helped me.

BeachBody Revolution, What It's All About!

On December 19th, BeachBody will be launching its first ever coaching infomercial. Kids, if you've ever thought about coaching, the time is now! Once the infomercial hits the airwaves, the company is expected to explode.

Here's my story of how I came upon coaching and how it has grown into something I never even imagined.

I decided to become a coach in September 2007 because I was having a blast helping others on the community forums achieve their fitness goals. I've blogged about it before, but prior to becoming a coach, I had been afraid of the "ick factor." I didn't want to be associated with business or with funny-duddy-marketing companies. I simply wanted to coach! It was and still truly is about helping others transform their bodies and their lives through fitness.

One day in September I called my coach TheFitDoc, an anesthesiologist, and told him that I wanted to coach, but that I was afraid of getting involved in some sort of scheme. He asked me to look around me and see the kind of people that make up this awesome community. The people around me (on the message boards) were living the fit lifestyle and making a difference in the lives of others. Also, BeachBody has been around for over 10 years and is on the Fortune 500 list. Perhaps most importantly, he told me that I could cancel my monthly coaching membership fee of $14.95 at any time. In other words, I had an out if at any point I decided that coaching was not for me.

After thinking about it for a few days, I signed up to be a coach. To be honest, that night I had a knot in my stomach. Did I do the right thing? Did I just get scammed? Was I getting into something fishy? These were all questions that were dancing around in my head. But when I woke up the next morning and simply did what I do--pressed play and supported the people on the message boards--I felt reassured. Everything just felt right.

When I first started coaching, my intention was not to make money or to develop a business. In fact, I specifically asked my coach to not speak to me about the business side of things. I was an educator, not a business person! (Thanks, Doc, I'm glad you listened.) Slowly, but surely, the folks I was coaching began growing into the role of coach, one by one. It's a wonderful thing--people just feel compelled to share what BeachBody has done for them. What better way to do that than through coaching?

Coaching has always been and always will be about fitness and helping others. The fact that I am earning a sizeable weekly check doing what I love is truly amazing for me.

Coaching can just be a way to get 25% percent off your orders or it can be your ticket to early retirement. No joke. I can help you get there.

Do I have to pay to become a coach?

There is a $39.95 start up fee. After that, there is a $14.95 web maintenance fee. This is a monthly fee that is automatically charged to a credit card kept on file with Beachbody (BB.)

What are some of the benefits of becoming a coach?

The benefits are many. First, there's no better feeling than to know you have helped someone else reach their goals! Coaching has turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

You also get a coach discount of 25% on any products you order.

As a coach you can purchase the showcase package for $199.00. It includes: P90X, Slim in 6, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty Ballet, Turbo Jam, and P90. That's a $400.00 value. Many people decide to coach just to get the showcase packet.

The packet also comes with resistance bands and an exercise ball.

Do I have to be a club member to be a coach?

No. You do not have to be a club member to be a coach. The great thing about it is that as a club member and a coach, you will be able to better help your customers because of the club's many tools and resources.

If I become a coach, am I still eligible for the daily WOWY prizes and the monthly Success Story prizes? What about the year end Success Story prizes?

Yes. Coaches are also eligible to win the daily, monthly or annual prizes. You better believe I'm going for the prize! You should, too.

My Transformation Story:

The beginning; my journey through P90X.

After starting this program and fully committing myself to the X, the first week was like a roller coaster ride for me. I was out traveling to WA State for work. I brought my DVD's and bands with me and was very eager to get started. I had been a "lurker" on the boards for a couple weeks looking at what other people have done and achieved from P90X. I was truly inspired by what I read and saw. After really reading into my coach’s transformation and what Josh had accomplished I knew that he had a similar starting point to me. At that point I decided to contact him and through a few conversations he had really got my motivated to achieve my goals with P90X. That’s when I decided to ask him to coach me through! It was one of the best decisions I have made because the support that he has given me and helped keep me motivated on those days I wanted to stop.

On my flight out to WA I could hardly wait to get to the hotel to start Day 1. I Started strong day 1, I felt nice and sore waking up on Day 2 to bring it with Plyometrics (Even know I was sore I was still to excited to let it stop me) Day 3 I was flying back from WA state to VA (long flight) When I got home it was Around 9:30PM and I had spent all day in the airport and the last thing on my Mind was to do shoulders/arms & AbripperX. Somehow I talked Myself into it, and got it done.

Then Day 4, I woke up tired and completely sore at this point! I opened up My book and saw that Day 4 was yoga... I sat there feeling like my fire had Gone out. Then I said screw it, it's not going to get itself done. So I grabbed The disc threw it in, and started... When I saw 1 1/2 hours come up for Completion time of yoga I felt like I’d rather walk across broken glass. I really Could not get into it, and wanted to stop the workout, I think I made it about 20-30 minutes through it, and I kept making up excuses why I didn't need to Do it and how I should just take the day off. So what did I do? I shut it off and Went to do what I thought would be more important in my day. (Granted I Was tired, but ultimately I was making up excuses) It ended up causing my Chain reaction to skip the following days legs/back & abripperX because Again, I thought I had to "busy" of a schedule to complete it. Looking back Now I wish I had not skipped it, but it was a learning curve for me. It's just Like what I use to do with all of my previous "work out / diet attempts" I'd be My own worst excuse and say well.... it wont' effect me if I skip just this once. But before I knew it, I would be back to old habits and could have chalked this up as another failed attempt.

When I skipped a workout on my first week I talked with my coach Josh (Spence8) & his coach Barbie about it, I really was so tempted to just quit and Start over another time. They both told me, "FORGET ABOUT IT. LEAVE IT BEHIND! Just think about the difference of just a couple days versus 90 days!" My skipped workout wasn't a major flaw but if I had not of Skipped that yoga or legs session the next time it came up I would of already Been versed with the moves and making some serious progress & ultimately I Probably wouldn't have complained about yoga as much as I did. I ended up Asking myself, "Just how committed to this am I?" I have proved To myself since those times that it's going to take my 110% effort to get were I want to be. I have my first weeks experience and used it to fuel my motivation, complete the X and exceed my goals. I learned that excuses won’t get me results!

Everyday I find myself more and more involved, how I think about what foods I’m going to eat, how I’m going to exercise, or even what I can do better today then yesterday. It's no longer even remotely a "hassle" for me to prepare my foods, P90X has made me WANT to prepare what I eat, or look at restaurant menus closer. I don't want to be that 300 lb guy sitting next to me at the restaurant. In fact I know I WON'T be.

I learned early on that taking photo's periodically as you progress throughout P90X is a helpful key to success. It not only helped keep my motivation high but lets you look back on what you won't let yourself become again. I use my photos to show others that it can be done. During phase 1 & towards the end of phase 2 eating clean and Sticking to my workout regiment I experienced some drastic weight reductions and muscle gains.

Since starting P90X my diet has changed so much! I've done workout Programs in the past with many failed attempts because I didn’t see any changes like I did with P90X, and I realize that my #1 problem is I never brought my fitness program To the kitchen. One of the hardest things to adapt to is making sure you prepare with your meals & snacks throughout the day to help you reduce any sudden temptations to eat junk. The message boards have helped keep me accountable with my workouts and there are so many people going through the same journey as you, the motivation that everyone provides helps keep my desire to push harder each day! The support you get is just amazing. What are you waiting for! Quit saying your going to start tomorrow, put that bag of Doritos down and let's bring it!

Day 90 Recap:
This truely was an experience that I wish I had started along time ago! Starting on Day 1 I never thought I would achieve the results I have, this has been one amazing journey, and i'll never turn back. Thank you Tony Horton & Beach Body for letting me prove to myself I could do it.

BeachBody Success: Becoming Who You Never Thought You'd Become

Melisa's answer to Barbie's question, "Why are you a coach?":

I want to coach because I've become a person I swore I never would become... a fit person.

I grew up sneering at the "jocks" - because they weren't fat and uncoordinated like me. I was so jealous! Even when I lost weight in high school I still hated them, because in my mind I remained the "fat girl" who didn't fit in. I was 5'7" tall and weighed 123 pounds. Fat chick indeed! To this day I struggle with that aspect of my self-image.

I KNOW I'm not the only one to ever have these feelings... alone, unsure and critical of myself, extremely self-conscious. The thing is, when I'm talking to someone who is struggling with their weight or unhappy with their body, I can always see the pain in their eyes... because I was there. I know what it's like to spend every waking moment obsessing over my weight, wondering what other people think of me, not wanting to go out in public, feeling SHAME because I wasn't taking care of myself but caught in a downward spiral of food, depression, and self-hatred... and wanting so badly for someone to see my pain and HELP ME.

When the opportunity to become a coach came my way, I had mixed feelings. The little "fat girl" in me said... "You can't do that! People will reject you. You're not a fitness anything... you're a failure." But there was a small voice inside that reminded me that it was the kindness of other people in my life that helped me quiet those inner demons and become who I am today. Slowly I realized that I could be one of those people for someone else.

It's not always easy to put my fears of rejection aside, but every time I do or say something that touches someone, every time my support helps someone light their fire and commit to making a change in their life, and every time I can honestly say "I know how you feel" to someone who is struggling... I realize that this is the best job in the whole world.

My Team Walks the Talk

Please enjoy the movie:

Teamwork: the movie

The other day, Chris, one of the women I coach posted the following comment on my forum, Barbie's Slim Spot:

"How exciting, this thread seems to be booming with coaches. Barbie what do you put in the water here?"

I felt it was a very good question. What do I put in the water to be surrounded by men and women who have transformed their bodies and their lives, and who, like me, want to share it through coaching?

All I can say is I walk the talk. I lead by example. You really can't fake commitment to excellence and genuine concern for others.

Being committed to my fitness, to my health, and to my growth has inspired and enabled me to help others do the same.

The men and women on my team share "center point values": commitment to fitness, to our lives, and to helping improve the lives of others. I think their progress pictures and their words speak for themselves.

After responding to Chris's question about what I put in the water, I rhetorically asked, "I don't know what I put in the water! Why do you want to coach, Licia? Jardy? Timber? Nazly?" Guess what? They answered.

I'd like to share some of their responses with you here.
